The new Porsche Panamera S Hybrid recently scored a huge victory at the Intercity Rally at the eleventh Michelin Challenge Bibendum. The Panamera's parallel full hybrid drive system took first place at the international forum for sustainable mobility, which was staged this year in Berlin. Second place was taken by a 911 Carrera with a conventional combustion engine, proving in the process that Porsche models are fundamentally efficient vehicles.

Porsche has completed preliminary studies in their electric car prototypes, including a Porsche Boxster, and have even begun road tests.

Funds for the Porsche EV are coming from a government-aided "Model Region Electro-Mobility Stuttgart" - a large-scale trial to study the everyday reasonableness of using all-electric vehicles. Out of the three Porsche Boxster E electric prototypes, two are rear-wheel drive (RWD) and one is all-wheel drive (AWD).¹
